The Illustrators Exhibition at the Bologna Children's Book Fair is one of the world's most important events in the field of illustration and over its 55-year history, it has featured the work of many of the leading figures from the last half-century of children's publishing. This year, the event will be held online.
The Illustrators Annual 2021 brings together works by 77 artists selected from over 3,000 applications from illustrators in 68 countries. For the first time, the catalogue that accompanies the exhibition has been given a new look with a die-cut cover with painted details.
With a cover illustration by Albertine, winner of the H.C. Andersen 2020 prize, the book presents, in addition to the selected works, contributions from the five jury members: Beatrice Alemagna, ATAK / Prof. Georg Barber, Suzanne Carnell, Kiyoko Matsuoka and Maria Russo. The book is rounded off with a contribution by Nora Krug, a highly respected voice on the international literary scene.
